Barcelona star Jules Koundé has issued a firm response to the media claims surrounding the names of he and teammate Robert Lewandowski over recent days.
Koundé, for his part, was in the stands on Tuesday night, as Barcelona locked horns with Inter Milan in the 2nd leg of a Champions League semi-final tie.
En route to the Blaugrana being sent packing from the competition, the Frenchman was accused of questioning the decision to introduce Robert Lewandowski to proceedings.
The Pole, fresh off a spell on the sidelines with a muscular injury, was thrown on by boss Hansi Flick late in the 90.
Catalunya Radio, in turn, quoted Koundé as having been spotted saying:
“I don’t know why he’s playing, he shouldn’t be playing the way he is.”
Such alleged comments sparked widespread chatter in Spain, in particular amongst those of a Barcelona persuasion. Late this week, Koundé himself has therefore moved to clarify the situation.
In a post on his official ‘X’ account, the former Sevilla man accused Catalunya Radio of ‘telling tall tales’:
“Making up comments and telling tall tales is all very well, but it’s not journalism. What’s also not journalism is transmitting information without guaranteeing its truth. Now, you can pass on the tweet if you want.”
