A fellow member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona appears to have secured for himself the squad number made use of by Iñigo Martínez this past season.

The player in question? Pau Cubarsí.

The name of stopper Iñigo has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.

This comes after sudden reports were forthcoming in the media, pointing towards the 34-year-old preparing for an imminent Barcelona departure.

Iñigo, it is understood, is all set to take his talents to Saudi Arabia, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from Hansi Flick’s squad on Friday is anything to go by, then it has not taken the Blaugrana at all long to move on.

As showcased in the screenshot below, via La Liga’s official website, the veteran defender’s no.5 jersey has already been taken over by youngster Pau Cubarsí:
