One of Barcelona’s goalscorers against Sevilla this evening made use of the opportunity to dedicate his strike to head coach Xavi.

As much, of course, comes ahead of the Spaniard’s imminent departure from the Barcelona bench.

Xavi guided the Blaugrana back into action for the final time on Sunday, in a La Liga meeting with Sevilla at The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

This comes after the 44-year-old was informed of his dismissal earlier this week.

When all was said and done in Andalusia, Barca’s players did their part in ensuring that Xavi went out on a high, courtesy of a 2-1 triumph.

After Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in proceedings inside the opening quarter of an hour, Youssef En-Nesyri soon dragged Sevilla back on level terms.

The evening’s decisive moment, though, was forthcoming just shy of the hour mark.

After picking the ball up on the left, youngster Fermín López cut inside, before unleashing an unstoppable drive into the bottom corner of the hosts’ net.

And the Spaniard, as alluded to above, went on to dedicate as much to his departing manager.

Having enjoyed a breakout campaign to the tune of 11 goals under Xavi’s watch in 2023/24, Fermín sought out the tactician on the touchline, culminating in a warm embrace:
