Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong has admitted that he has been left largely disappointed by the amount of silverware he has managed to accumulate across his time with the club.
Midfielder De Jong has for his part been on the books at the Camp Nou for over five years now.
As much comes after Barcelona agreed to fork over a hefty sum to Dutch giants Ajax to beat out the stiff competition for his signature.
De Jong’s ensuing time in Blaugrana colours has been something of a hit-and-miss affair, with the general consensus being that the now-27-year-old has failed to live up to expectations.
And FdJ has himself been left underwhelmed by the level, or rather lack thereof, of collective success enjoyed by the club since his arrival.
Speaking during an interview with Voetbal International, as cited by Fabrizio Romano, this week, De Jong admitted:
“When I signed for Barcelona, I didn’t imagine only winning a La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup after 4 years. I expected at least double, so that disappoints me. Things happen on the road you can’t predict.”
