Barcelona star Jules Koundé has this weekend provided an insight into his diminishing love for the game.

Defender Koundé has of course spent the early months of the new campaign continuing to make a name for himself as one of world football’s very best in his role.

Now fully adapted to the position of full-back since being moved from the heart of defence, the Frenchman has shone bright on his way to appearances in all 17 of Barcelona’s fixtures across all competitions.

Koundé has even managed to showcase his developing talents in the final third, to the tune of a goal and four assists.

One of the first names on the team sheet of boss Hansi Flick, the former Sevilla man, in turn, is considered the right-back of present and future alike in Catalunya’s capital.

Safe to say, then, that it may well mark a concern for those of a Blaugrana persuasion to hear that Koundé himself no longer feels as strongly for the game as he did in the past.

Speaking in an interview with ‘The Bridge’, as cited by Marca, this weekend, the 25-year-old admitted:

“I’d be lying if I said I love football as much as before. Before, it was my passion. Now it’s my job. When I started, my life off the field was secondary.”
