An insight into a disagreement behind the scenes at La Liga giants Barcelona regarding the futures of two members of the club’s attacking ranks has this weekend been provided.

The info comes courtesy of ESport3, and points towards the difference of opinion as being between Deco, and Joan Laporta.

According to the report, prior to his dismissal this week, Xavi and Deco had agreed on five members of Barca’s squad as being dispensable with a view to next season.

The quintet in question? Robert Lewandowski, João Félix, Oriol Romeu, Marcos Alonso, and Vitor Roque.

A subsequent sit-down between sporting director Deco and president Joan Laporta, however, saw the latter make clear his feelings that two of these five should be depended upon by the club beyond the summer.

Laporta, it is understood, remains a firm backer of both Lewandowski, and João Félix.

It now remains to be seen what influence incoming Blaugrana head coach Hansi Flick has on the situation…
