The financial situation of FC Barcelona has been a rather complex one to understand. Still, despite their clear and obvious issues, the club has managed to resolve most of their pending objectives. From contract renewals to player registrations, Barcelona is working on several operations.
However, especially over the last few weeks, one of the most urgent cases that needed to be resolved was the contract renewal of Ronald Araujo. With his previous deal expiring, and with Juventus quite interested in acquiring his services, Barça needed to act quickly.
Ultimately, that is exactly what the club and Deco manages to do. The 25-year-old Barcelona captain has now renewed until 2031 with La Blaugrana, and that extends his stay for many more years. However, recent reports came out and revealed his new release clause, and that was perhaps the most worrying aspect in an otherwise positive looking agreement.
With sources highlighting the player’s new €65 million release clause, a value much lower than his previous release clause of €1 billion, there were some questions being asked. Now, however, as per Miguel Rico, that information has been contested and the journalist has revealed that his actual release clause is much higher.
Furthermore, the journalist claims that this information comes from official sources from within Barcelona. They say that the real release clause of the player is set at €300 million, which is a value significantly greater than the reported €65 million release clause.
Either way, the new contract agreement was crucial for Barcelona in order to keep the player and to safeguard their own chances of selling him for a higher price than to let him go for cheaper. With this new extension, the club has a lot more security and safety when it comes to dealing with the player’s future demands or incoming offers.
