Barcelona will only be able to afford a move for Inter’s Lautaro Martinez if they are to win the Champions League according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet AS.
The Blaugrana have been courting the highly rated 22-year-old striker for some time now but have been forced to put their pursuit of him on hold due to their current financial problems.
La Liga officials have told Barcelona that if they wish to complete a deal for the Argentine international, swaps will not be enough and they will have to spend some of their current funds and not the funds they will have based on their financial projections.
If Barcelona manage to lift the Champions League in the coming weeks they will pocket no less than €41 million in total prize money. They will receieve a further €3.5 million for participating in the UEFA Super Cup can also earn a further €1 million if they are to win the UEFA Super Cup.
Such funds would enable Barcelona to resume their pursuit of Lautaro, who has 19 goals this season.
