Barcelona are preparing to keep a close watch on some of the brightest young talents at the upcoming Under-20 World Cup in Chile, scheduled from September 27 to October 19 this year.
In fact, according to Mundo Deportivo, the club intends to send scouts to the tournament, and one name that will not go unnoticed is River Plate’s exciting winger, Ian Subiabre.
The 18-year-old has already caught the attention of Barça’s recruitment team, thanks to his promising displays at the youth level.
Subiabre’s current release clause stands at $30 million, which is around €25.6 million – a fee considered more realistic compared to other young stars on the market.
Interestingly, for a club still going through tight financial restrictions, that figure places him within reach, especially if his development continues on the right track.

As such, during the last South American Under-20 Championship, he stood out with three goals in six matches, showing both consistency and maturity for his age.
Now, with Argentina placing great expectations on him for the World Cup in Chile, the stage is set for him to make an even bigger impression.
Barcelona’s scouts will be present at the tournament not just to follow Subiabre, but to monitor several rising stars from across the globe.
Still, the River Plate youngster is already on their shortlist, and the club will be paying particular attention to his performances.
What complicates matters is Barcelona’s current financial fair play situation. Due to the 1:1 registration rule, the club cannot make major signings immediately, which means moving for Subiabre now is unrealistic.
However, if he continues to shine and Barça stabilise their finances, a future transfer could be on the table.
