Barcelona set to offer new deal to Munir El Haddadi

Barcelona have been so impressed with Munir El Haddadi’s development this season that they are planning to extend his contract for a further year.

That’s according to Catalan outlet Sport, who claim Barça have been paying close attention to Munir’s performances during his loan spell Alavés and are planning to take a look at him over the summer with a view to potentially keeping him as back up for Luis Suárez and Paco Alcácer in 2018/19.

Having spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Valencia, the Moroccan-Spanish forward has scored 13 times in 34 appearances during his season-long loan spell at Alavés – two of which came in the 4-0 victory over Las Palmas at the weekend – and his team are yet to lose a match in which he has scored.

But the 22-year-old is keen to play regular football and his Blaugrana future could all depend on whether a new forward joins the club in the summer. If Antoine Griezmann moves from Atlético Madrid, as has been strongly rumoured, it is highly likely Munir will be sent out on loan again.

The Spain international is currently under contract at Barça until June 2019 and the club are hoping he will sign a one-year extension so that, in the event they do decide to sell him, he would command a larger transfer fee than if he were in the last 12 months of his deal.
