According to TV3 and correspondent Oriol Domenech, Barcelona are set to offer an extension to their B-team star Nico Gonzalez amid interest from other clubs. The talks are just in the initial stages but are progressing well, as stated by multiple reports.

Yesterday the player and his representatives reportedly had their first meeting with sporting director Mateu Alemany and club secretary Ramon Planes for the first stage of negotiations. The midfielder is yet to make his senior debut, but has already made 20 appearances for the B-team.

A player highly regarded by Garcia Pimienta, Nico Gonzalez has reportedly received an initial offer for a long-term renewal with a B-team license, but he would be given opportunities to train with the Barcelona first-team squad on a regular basis.

The Spain U-19 international’s contract expires this summer, but Barcelona will most likely offer him a new deal. As Domenech also states, there has been plenty of interest towards him from big clubs in Europe, including two Dutch clubs, two English clubs and one each from Portugal, Italy and Germany.

The report additionally states that three of these clubs are fairly big in stature and will be playing in the Champions League. Nico however, does wish to stay at Barcelona and work his way up the ranks to become a permanent member of the first team.

The 19-year old is a tall, physical midfielder who has really sound technical ability. His tremendous versatility has seen him being deployed as a midfielder, but also as an interior, central defender or right-back.
