FC Barcelona said goodbye to a memorable 2024-25 season last night as they played and won their last La Liga game of the season against Athletic Club at San Mames.

Now, the Catalans do not have any on-field concerns for several weeks, and thus can focus completely on strengthening their team for the upcoming season.

In fact, the Blaugranes have already been doing their homework for some of their desired moves in the last few months.

Barcelona set to finalize the sale of Alex Valle today

In this regard, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona are close to undertaking their first piece of business for summer 2025 as they are set to meet with representatives of the Italian side Como in a few hours to finalize the sale of the defender Alex Valle. This operation can be completed today or in the next one or two days.

The Spaniard has been playing on loan at the Serie A side since the last winter and his performances have pushed the Italians to make a move for his permanent incorporation. As a result, they have already informed the Blaugranes of their intention to pay Valle’s €6 million release clause.

There have been some other notable sides interested in the fullback as well, including Borussia Dortmund and Real Betis, but a deal with Como is set to be finalized immediately.

Some contractual issues remain to be ironed out

For now, there are some contractual issues that remain to be ironed out, like the length of his contract, Cesc Fabregas’ continuity as the manager, and the player’s own starting role remaining intact going forward.

There are several final meetings scheduled to complete this operation, but one aspect on which Barcelona and Como have already reached an agreement is the mode of payment.

The Italian side will pay the €6 million in two installments, the first €4 million will be paid now, while the remaining €2 million will be paid in summer 2026.
