Barcelona have enjoyed immense success in nurturing young players in recent years, with the likes of Gavi, Pedri and Alejandro Balde making a name for themselves in the first team.

However, not everyone has found success in integrating themselves into the senior side. According to Diario SPORT, two of the finest talents in the Barça academy appear to be on the verge of departing the club on a free transfer in the summer.

The two players in question are Ilias Akhomach and Victor Barbera. Both youngsters have their contracts expiring at the end of the season, and they are not expected to renew.

Barbera, a striker with immense potential, had been in talks with Barça over a renewal but an agreement is yet to be reached for weeks. The player has agreed a move to Club Brugge, who are offering a better salary and a chance to play in European competitions next season.

As for Akhomach, his future is not decided just yet. But the young forward has been a subject of interest for various clubs across Europe, including Premier League outfit Leeds United.

Even Arsenal have recently entered the race to sign Akhomach, knowing the 18-year-old will be available on a free transfer in the summer.

The potential exit of Akhomach and Barbera has not gone down well with the Barcelona board. But the club can take solace from the fact that another talented youth prodigy in the form of Angel Alarcon will renew his contract and has committed his long-term future at Camp Nou.

Having already featured in a few competitive matches for the senior side, Alarcon could be an interesting alternative for Robert Lewandowski next season, especially if Barça fail to sign the highly expensive Vitor Roque in the coming summer.
