It is no secret that Barcelona are looking for a new midfielder heading into the summer transfer window, with several names being linked with the club.

Amadou Onana of Everton and Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich are seen as targets while a free transfer move for Guido Rodriguez of Real Betis is also gaining weight.

But it appears that another target has now emerged on the radars of the reigning La Liga champions.

Chelsea talent Carney Chukwuemeka back on the agenda

Indeed, according to reports in England, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have rekindled their interest in Chelsea midfield talent Carney Chukwuemeka.

The 20-year-old youngster had been on the Catalan heavyweights’ radars a couple of years ago when he was still at Aston Villa, but the move did not end up going through in the end.

Since moving to Chelsea in 2022, Chukwuemeka has been unable to carve out a regular place for himself in the side and has played just 12 times in the ongoing season across all competitions.

With the youngster not realising his full potential at the London club and Chelsea needing to make some sales to balance their books, his future is understood to be uncertain.

And this is where Barcelona enter, having previously shown interest in signing the young Englishman. A physically strong midfielder with immense potential, Chukwuemeka can be a good signing with an eye on the future.

However, any move could likely hinge on the transfer fee that Chelsea might demand for the midfielder, given that he still has four years left on his contract.
