Prospects hailing from Barcelona’s La Masia academy have in recent years proven to be a ray of light for Barcelona amid their financial crisis.

However, rising above the competition in the first team is no task for the ordinary and often compels youngsters to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Before Alejandro Balde usurped Jordi Alba from the left-back position, one of the contenders vying to give Alba a run for his money was Juan Miranda.

The young full-back could not find regularity or displace Alba at the time, causing him to leave to Real Betis and acquire regularity in games.

Although the player is no longer officially affiliated with the Blaugranes, Barça may still benefit from his departure.

Barcelona would receive financial boost with sale of Miranda

Indeed, as per Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan have now reached an agreement with Juan Miranda to join in January 2024, with Real Betis and Milan also engaging in negotiations for a January transfer.

Barcelona are currently entitled to 40% of any money paid for the player’s transfer. More than two years after Miranda’s exit, there appears to finally be an opportunity to take advantage of the provision

If the operation goes through, Barcelona will receive 40% of the sale. Furthermore, the report argues Milan will offer around €2 million to Real Betis in the upcoming winter transfer window in January.

However, Barcelona will not benefit if the player’s acquisition is delayed by six months, as he will become a free agent in June and will not generate any transfer fees that would indirectly help Barcelona.

As such, despite the low sum, the Catalan giants will be hoping for AC Milan and Real Betis to successfully wrap up their negotiations, so that they can earn some cash off his sale this January rather than receiving no monetary benefit next summer.
