According to the Spanish news outlet MARCA, Barcelona have decided that they will only listen to the offers of at least €25 million for their 21-year-old right-back, Sergino Dest.

The outlet further adds that the right-back spot is the one that is expected to undergo heavy transition; both in terms of new arrivals and those leaving.

As of today, the team has as many as four players who can occupy the space, but all of them come with their fair share of complications. Dest, for instance, has failed to convince Xavi that he could be his a long-term option.

Dani Alves, on the other hand, is already in the final years of his career while the likes of Oscar Mingueza and Sergi Roberto are facing uncertain futures themselves.

One good thing that works in Barcelona’s favour, however, remains that Xavi understands Dest has significant scope for improvement. At only 21 years of age, Xavi is willing to make an effort for the player whose Barcelona’s tenure has been rather marred by constant injuries.

On top of that, MARCA says Dest’s salary is relatively on the lower side, hence releasing him would not make a huge impact on the cap anyway. Therefore, Barça’s priority, at this very moment, is to offload those who are restricting heavy movements.

At the same time, the team management is not ruling out the possibility of departure in the summer, given the bid at least matches the aforementioned amount.

Dest signed for Barcelona in 2020 for a reported €21 million plus a potential €5 million in add-ons fee. His buy-out clause was set at a whopping €400 million.

It is important to note that if Dest does depart, his exit will be followed by an extensive pursuit of a certain Cesar Azpilicueta. If Barcelona somehow manage to break Chelsea’s resistance, it will be obvious that they would not need Dest’s services from thereon.
