While planning their moves to strengthen the first team as much as they can in the upcoming summer transfer window, FC Barcelona are also not ignoring their youth teams, and are also looking at some targets who are showing a great degree of potential at a young age.
In this regard, one of the players whom the Catalans are interested in is the Mallorca-owned young striker, Marc Domenech. The player, with 21 goals, has been the top scorer in Group III of the Youth Division of Honor with San Francisco, a team owned by Mallorca. It is his goalscoring ability that has mainly caught the eye of Barcelona scouts.
According to SPORT, Barcelona have already made a first proposal of €300,000 for the youngster, which has been rejected by Mallorca, as the latter considers him to be one of the most promising pearls in their academy and are looking to shield the player from the market.
Having seen their first proposal for the player rejected by Mallorca, Barça can now consider paying his release clause. The report mentions that his release clause while he is a part of the youth team is €1 million, but it will rise to €3 million once he gets promoted to the reserve team.
Domenech’s current contract with Mallorca goes till 2027, but the Islanders are considering extending this contract by two more years, while also increasing his wages. Furthermore, they are also proposing a medium-term plan for him to reach the first team.
While Domenech is the one who has caught Barcelona’s eye, Mallorca are having a great time in regards to their academy in general, as they won the Youth Copa del Rey title last season, which will allow them to compete in the Champions Cup in this category, and also got their reserve team promoted to the Second RFEF.
