The scouting team at La Liga giants Barcelona are keeping a watchful eye on the development of Benfica starlet Álvaro Carreras.
That’s according to Diario Sport, citing Portuguese outlet O Jogo, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the situation.
Carreras, for his part, is a 21-year-old defender, who has long been making waves in the Portuguese game.
The left-back has been hailed in particular for his offensive prowess, with Carreras boasting bags of pace with finished product to match.
Such endeavours have piqued the attentions of a number of Europe’s leading clubs, from Manchester United, to Real Madrid.
As per the aforementioned Sport, though, it is Barcelona who are keeping a particularly close eye on the situation.
In the knowledge that head coach Hansi Flick is eager for reinforcements at full-back in his squad, Deco and his transfer team have taken their place in the stands at several Benfica fixtures, to watch Carreras in action.
It is in turn not at all out of the question that Barca could launch an offensive, to secure the signature of the Spanish youth international next summer.
