Speaking in a chat with TV3, journalist Lluis Canut has revealed that Ronald Araujo’s representatives are currently in negotiation with Bayern Munich.

The Barcelona centre-back has been made the scapegoat following his side’s 1-4 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final, as it was his error that forced the turnaround.

A lot has been said ever since, including Ilkay Gundogan’s comments on what Araujo should have done instead of what he did.

This reportedly caused a little rupture but as mentioned yesterday, everything is fine between the German midfielder and his Barcelona teammates.

Will Barcelona sell Araujo?

As of today, Barcelona happened to be in a state of confusion. They know the Uruguayan is irreplaceable but they also know that he is someone who can bring in a lot of profit.

President Joan Laporta is hesitant about letting him go, but there could be exceptions if an offer exceeds €80 million. Despite this, the player himself prefers to stay.

Araujo has reiterated his desire to remain with the team and his agents have been negotiating with Barcelona for weeks to improve his contract and extend its term, but they have yet to reach an agreement.

Araujo to Bayern Munich – Why?

Araujo’s current contract runs until 2026, but his salary is now considered outdated given his status as a key starter.

This could be one of the reasons why his representatives are said to be in touch with the German team. On the other hand, it could be a tactic as well that most agents use to get the best deal possible.

Right now, the club is exploring ways to increase his salary accordingly and while Araujo’s preference might lead to a final agreement, his representatives have reservations about the current situation.

For that matter, the defender has offers from elsewhere and most of them are offering a salary much more substantial than what Barcelona have put forward, which explains the debate between the parties.
