Borussia Dortmund starlet Youssoufa Moukoko looks all set to spark a transfer war in the near future. The striker, who recently turned 18, is in the final year of his contract with the German outfit and has emerged as a target for several big clubs across Europe, including Barcelona.

The Blaugrana are looking at the German international as a possible backup for Robert Lewandowski in the No. 9 role, especially with Memphis Depay likely to depart either in January or at the end of the season.

However, Barça will have to face competition from Premier League clubs Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United, with The Times (h/t SPORT) reporting that the three teams have already made contact with Dortmund about a possible move for Moukoko in January.

The Black and Yellows have made multiple attempts to renew Moukoko but the two parties have been unable to reach an agreement over an extension. It is reported that the striker is seeking a deal worth €6 million per year with a low release clause amount.

While Dortmund want to renew him, they would prefer to sell him in January in case an agreement is not reached, instead of losing him for free at the end of the season.

To that end, the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, and United have emerged as possible suitors for January, with the Premier League trio open to paying a fee for the teenage centre-forward.

Barcelona, for their part, want to sign Moukoko but only on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The club are believed to be confident that the 18-year-old would prefer a move to Spotify Camp Nou. But he will have to turn down Dortmund and the Premier League clubs and wait until the summer to secure a transfer to Barça.

However, while Moukoko is attracted to the prospect of joining the Blaugrana he also has concerns about his playing time should he make the move, as there is intense competition for places in the attacking department at Camp Nou.

So, Moukoko’s next move will hinge on a lot of factors. But with the Premier League trio making a play to sign him in January, Barcelona could run the risk of missing out on the German striker.
