La Liga giants Barcelona have this weekend moved to deny claims in the media regarding a recent spat between Raphinha and the coaching staff at the club.
The rumours in question came to the fore on Saturday, when it was suggested by Jijantes that wide-man Raphinha had directed a series of insults at Barcelona assistant manager Óscar Hernández.
This came after the Brazilian international was hauled off prematurely in Barca’s La Liga meeting with Valencia late in April.
Not only that, but it was added that, as punishment, Raphinha was informed that he would be dropped to the bench for the Blaugrana’s ensuing meeting with Girona.
If the latest word stemming from Xavi’s camp on Sunday is anything to go by, however, then no such exchange, in fact, ever took place.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘Sources from Xavi’s coaching staff consulted by SPORT categorically assure that the events described by Jijantes do not correspond to what happened in the match against Valencia.’
Whilst it is confirmed that Raphinha did indeed leave the pitch against Valencia frustrated, the 27-year-old kept to himself, without uttering any form of complaint or insult towards the Barcelona coaching staff.
