Keeping in view this FC Barcelona team’s results and performances on the pitch, it is quite clear that Hansi Flick is currently enjoying a very secure future at the Blaugrana club.
However, this is not really the case with his counterpart at the Barcelona Atlètic, Albert Sánchez, who has been unable to get a reaction from his team amid a highly underwhelming season.
The Blaugrana reserve team is yet to win a game in 2025, and suffered another defeat in their last league outing, against Zamora CF. This worrying trend of the team’s performance has put the continuity of the Spanish coach in charge of Barcelona Atlètic in a lot of danger, according to MARCA.
Sánchez had described the game against Zamora as a ‘super-final’ in its build-up phase, but still ended up losing the match. For now, nothing is decided, but still, his future as the head coach of Barcelona Atlètic is in serious danger.
This uncertainty is rather natural following the continued poor run of form for his team, which has picked only three points from the last 18 possible ones. The B team has also not won any game since the turn of the year, and at Estadi Johan Cruyff, their home ground, their last win came in September 2024, precisely against their last rivals, Zamora CF.
Thus, the Barcelona reserve team remains in the relegation zone of the Primera Federacion, and the Board of Directors and the executives of the Catalan club’s sporting department are clear that a relegation has to be avoided at all costs.
Therefore, while a final decision has not been made in this regard, Albert Sánchez is on the brink of being relieved of his duties. He took this job back in the summer after Rafa Marquez left Barcelona Atletic to join the Mexican national team’s coaching staff.
