Fermin Lopez is one of many Barcelona players who are currently out with an injury. The Barcelona youth player, who had a gruelling summer, is nursing from a muscle injury and could be out until the end of the month.

Although Fermin’s absence has not hurt Barcelona greatly, he still remains a crucial player in the first team, primarily due to the dynamism and work ethic he brings to the table.

But earlier in the summer, Barcelona had an opportunity to offload Fermin to the Premier League, with at least two English giants interested in the forward.

Man United, Spurs made Fermin move in the summer

According to The Daily Briefing, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were the two clubs, who were keen on acquiring the services of Fermin in the summer.

Both clubs showed interest in the forward following an excellent summer that saw him secure the European Championship as well as the Olympic gold medal.

Fermin was, in fact, Spain U21’s star player as they secured the gold medal in Paris. The Barcelona forward scored six goals while racking up two assists in just six matches.

This led to widespread interest across Europe, with Man United and Spurs, in particular, showing a concrete desire to sign the young forward.

Fermin wants to stay at Barcelona

Barcelona, though, had no intention of letting go of Fermin Lopez as they considered him a vital piece of the club’s project.

Fermin, for his part, had no desire to leave Barcelona either. The player wants to stay in Catalonia and continue his growth trajectory.

For now, Barcelona are working on the renewal of the Spanish international, whose current contract at Camp Nou expires in 2027.
