The future of Hector Fort has been a topic of much discussion lately, as the young Barcelona defender appears to have fallen out of favour under Hansi Flick.

Despite being the only natural right-back available at the disposal of Flick, Fort has failed to appear frequently in the starting eleven.

Fort is yet to even feature in 500 minutes of action this season, with the defender starting only thrice in La Liga so far.

Fort was approached by Como in January

In the wake of Fort’s struggles this season, MARCA reports that the young right-back was approached by Como in the January transfer window.

In fact, the Italian outfit had even approached Barcelona with a €8 million offer to sign young Fort. But it appears the player had no desire to leave Barcelona.

Indeed, the report adds that Fort had closed the door on any form of exit in January, which is why Barcelona did not waste any time entertaining the proposal from Como.

Fort, for his part, is already bracing for a ‘season of learning’ under Flick, meaning the youngster understands that chances could be hard to come by.

What’s next for Fort?

While Fort is clearly not too keen on leaving Barcelona, he must soon start making an impact in order to continue in Catalonia.

The right-back has undeniable talent, but given the way, he is perceived only as a backup for Jules Kounde and not a proper competitor, the youngster must make waves soon.

The coming few months could be critical and Fort needs to be on alert for any opportunity in the first team.
