In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo claimed that Barcelona have reignited their interest in Girona midfielder Aleix Garcia this summer. It is believed that the Catalan club are eager to land the Spanish midfield ace in the upcoming transfer period.

Garcia’s Impressive Run Of Form In Spanish Football

The 26-year-old has managed to put in a run of solid displays at the centre of Girona’s midfield during this campaign. Garcia has scored three goals and earned six assists in 32 matches for the Spanish outfit this season on all fronts.

The Spanish talent has caught the eye at both ends of the field as he is averaging 1.4 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 1.1 shots, 1.7 crosses and 1.7 key passes per game in La Liga. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution after completing 91.6% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2026 which could make it difficult for Barca to sign him on the cheap at the end of this campaign.

Is Garcia A Good Option For Barcelona?

Garcia is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and can strike the ball with venom and accuracy from long range.

The Spanish sensation has got the vision to create some promising chances for others around him and is a decent crosser of the ball as well. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also operate in the number ten position or as a defensive midfielder if required.

We can expect Garcia to add more quality to Barcelona‘s first team. He is good enough to nail down a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp in the coming years.

At 26, Garcia is about to enter his prime which makes him a great option for the Catalan club to consider in the summer transfer window. He already knows La Liga well by now and won’t take much time to settle into life at Barcelona if they can manage to bring him on board later this year.
