Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies will be able to negotiate freely with any club in just under a month as his contract expires on 30 June 2025.

It has sparked interest in the Canadian, considered one of the best left-backs in the world, and the player is now weighing his options to make a decision that will define his career.

Barcelona not giving up

Bayern Munich are pushing hard to reach a final agreement for a contract renewal within the next three weeks, and positions have come closer, but both Real Madrid and Barcelona remain in the race.

Now, SPORT reports that the Blaugrana are aware that, for the moment, nothing is final, and they continue to play their cards in an attempt to sign him.

Davies appeared to be more out than in at Bayern Munich due to his high salary demands. But recent reports suggested that the player has agreed to lower his financial demands.

This change in position comes as no club has been willing to meet his original demands of nearly €15 million in signing bonuses, alongside a salary of about €10 million net per season, plus a commission for his entourage.

The reduction in demands could favour Barcelona if Davies ultimately decides he wants a change of scenery. The player is very comfortable at Bayern at present and will want to have a clear role in a new project where he can also compete for major titles if he opts to leave.

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid appeal to him, but he has not agreed anything with anyone yet.

Real Madrid have already gained significant ground, having been negotiating with the player’s entourage for nearly a year. Now, however, the club’s current injury issues and their midfield problems have shifted their priorities.

As for Barcelona, they have only inquired about the terms and expressed interest so far. Their main advantage is Hansi Flick, who has an excellent relationship with Davies.

However, Barça have not yet made further moves, awaiting a resolution to their salary cap issues in January before entering into negotiations. They believe there is still time, as the player has yet to sign with anyone, and by January, their chances could increase.

Both Flick and Deco agree that the next project requires the signing of two full-backs, and there is consensus around Davies. The challenge will be whether Barcelona has the financial flexibility to make him a final, convincing offer.
