The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have set their sights on the signature of a breakthrough talent in English football.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have confirmed Barca’s interest in the services of Yáser Asprilla.

Yáser, for his part, is currently plying his trade in the 2nd tier of English football, with Watford.

The 20-year-old is a versatile attacker, who generally operates on the right wing, allowing him to cut inside onto his favoured left foot before taking aim at goal.

Yáser’s countless attacking qualities, though, mean that he is capable of lining out just about anywhere across the frontline.

Across the season to date, the Colombian has featured on 31 occasions in The Championship (16 starts), racking up a none-too-shabby six goals and four assists along the way.

It is his production over the last couple of weeks in particular, though, which has begun to pique the attentions of some of European football’s heavyweights.

After Yáser first emerged from the bench to find the net in stunning fashion against Norwich City, he followed up with another sumptuous strike last time out, the only goal in a narrow 1-0 downing of Rotherham United.

Such endeavours have quickly turned heads in the Premier League, but it is the aforementioned Barcelona who are now said to be giving real consideration to a move for Watford’s young winger.

As per the aforementioned Sport:

‘Barça would thus be willing to anticipate the growing interest from big Premier clubs that already have him in their sights’, by way of a summer offer.

One source of concern for the Blaugrana may well come in the form of Yáser’s price-tag, though, with Colombian sources pointing towards Watford seeking a hefty €40-50 million for their crown jewel.
