SPORT has reported that Barcelona are ready to give up in their pursuit of Athletic Club forward Nico Williams mostly because there is a growing sense of belief that he is all set to sign an extension with his current team.

The 21-year-old’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and as of now, he has not committed to a renewal, at least officially.

Barcelona are currently okay to accept the fact that Williams will stay at Athletic Club mostly because substantial progress has been made in recent weeks during his extension, and even the player maintains a positive relationship with the club’s board.

And this positive rapport raises the potential for finding a mutually agreeable compromise. SPORT mentions that while Williams may contemplate extending his contract, his deal would include a termination clause of a reduced figure in the event of a future transfer.

Will Barcelona bid in January?
