Barcelona are interested in signing Atlético Madrid midfielder Saúl Ñíguez and are willing to part with €110m.
That’s according to AS who claim that the Blaugrana are looking to completely overhaul their midfield this summer in a bid to take their game to the next level.
With Ivan Rakitić likely to be leaving and Sergio Busquets not getting any younger, the Catalan club are scouring Europe for reinforcements.
They’ve already signed Ajax sensation Frenkie De Jong, and now AS claim that Barça will go in for Saúl at the end of the season.
Barcelona tried to sign the Spain international in 2017 but he was convinced to stay at Atleti and signed a new deal with a release clause of €150m.
At the time that seemed like a vastly inflated amount but with the way the market has gone in recent seasons, that figure is believed to be in Barça’s reach.
They will though, go in with an initial offer of €110m, which if accepted, would make Saúl the most expensive Spanish footballer in history.
The player himself is believed to be keen on the move.
