During the summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain expressed interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich. However, the experienced player decided to remain with the Bavarian club to see out the final year of his contract. But there’s now a new twist that could spell trouble for both clubs.

If Kimmich doesn’t agree to a contract extension this season, he’ll have full control over his next move and could leave Bayern as a free agent next summer.

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has targeted Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen and Joshua Kimmich as part of its 2025 plans to strengthen the team’s midfield and defense.

Nonetheless, Barcelona and PSG’s chances of landing Kimmich in 2025 could take a hit. Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Kimmich has confirmed he is willing to discuss extending his contract with Bayern Munich beyond 2025.

This news would contradict what former footballer Bojan Krkic Sr. stated, in which he noted that the veteran midfielder wants a move to the Catalan side.

“Kimmich really wants to come to Barça,” Krkic Sr. said on Cadena Ser. “The coach plays an important role and Barça has what it does to sign good players with a coach recognized as Flick.”
