Paris Saint-Germain have been closely monitoring Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich in recent months, with reports from Germany suggesting a transfer almost happened last summer. As the January transfer window approaches, new updates about a possible move have emerged.
PSG aren’t alone in their pursuit. Barcelona are also interested in Kimmich, alongside Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, as they look to strengthen their midfield and defense ahead of the 2025 season.
Kimmich’s situation at Bayern has shifted since Vincent Kompany became head coach. Once seemingly set to leave when his contract expires next summer, the versatile German—capable of playing in midfield or at right-back—now faces an uncertain future.
According to TBR Football, Bayern Munich are making every effort to ensure Kimmich doesn’t leave on a free transfer next year.

Kimmich hasn’t shared whether Bayern Munich has submitted a contract proposal yet, but discussions between the club and the 29-year-old’s representatives are ongoing. The German international has now stated that he knows when he wants his future resolved, emphasizing his desire for clarity on the situation.
“I will not wait until summer,” Kimmich told ZDF SportStudio (h/t GOAL). “I will sit down in winter and then try to see the bigger picture. And make the right decision.”
When the January window opens in a couple of weeks, Kimmich can begin talks with any club over a pre-contract that will start in July 2025.
