According to El Nacional, Barcelona are ready to swap Ousmane Dembele with Juventus forward Paulo Dybala in order to avoid losing the former Borussia Dortmund man for free in the summer.

With only a couple of weeks left for the transfer window to slam shut, Barcelona have delivered a final notice to Dembele’s camp. According to the aforementioned source, his representatives have until Wednesday to say whether they will sign a new contract or will leave the team in the summer.

Barcelona are anticipating a movement on a free transfer and are hence looking for a way that can benefit all parties. And with Juventus showing potential interest, a proposal of a direct trade would be beneficial for everyone involved.

Although Barcelona’s interest in Alvaro Morata persists, Massimiliano Allegri’s unwillingness to lose the Atletico striker has forced the Catalan club to look elsewhere. For that matter, Dybala can fit in perfectly while Dembele, too, can fulfil Allegri’s desire of adding more attacking numbers in January.

Dybala’s situation at Juventus is identical to that of Dembele’s. The Argentine forward has a contract until June 2022 and like the Frenchman, has had trouble dealing with the Juventus board. With the Turin-based club willing to get rid of the 28-year-old, this could be the best way for Barcelona to churn some positives out of the entire fiasco.

The Catalan club does not really have a lot of time. If they fail to establish a deal this month, there are high chances that the 24-year-old will leave in the summer. However, contrary to what has been said in the news, Dembele does want to renew but his agent’s words are not aligning in the same direction, as admitted by Xavi today.
