Seven months ago, Barcelona wonderkid Marc Bernal tore the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in his left knee, coupled with an external meniscus injury, just in his third first-team appearance for the club.

The injury occurred in Barça’s La Liga encounter against Rayo Vallecano away at Estadio de Vallecas on August 27, 2024.

After having undergone surgery, the teenage prodigy has been working hard on his recovery and is making impressive progress, even though a return this season is unlikely.

Bernal starts working on the pitch

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Bernal has taken a major step forward in his recovery from the ACL injury.

Indeed, as was expected, the 17-year-old has begun working on the Ciutat Esportiva pitch since Monday – a clear sign that his recovery is on the right track.

Not so long ago, Barcelona had shared a video on social media showing the youngster working hard in the gym and now, the player has started working on the pitch which is a huge positive.

Despite the positive recovery signs, Barcelona are proceeding with caution. The Catalans are following a plan similar to Gavi’s recovery process, prioritising 100% rehabilitation with no rush for his return, given Bernal is still in a crucial phase of physiological growth.

The focus remains on ensuring he comes back stronger, without risking any setbacks.

Before his injury, Bernal had started the season strongly. After making a big impression in pre-season, he made his official senior debut as a starter against Valencia at Mestalla.

The La Masia graduate then impressed in the following matches against Athletic Club, and was performing well against Rayo until his unfortunate injury.
