Barcelona are bracing themselves for yet another busy transfer window this summer, with the club hard at work trying to sort out their economic trouble before making a move in the market.

Barça are facing a familiar problem in the form of an inflated salary bill. In addition, the revenue from the Libero deal still hasn’t come.

Despite all this, President Joan Laporta remain confident of finding a solution to Barcelona’s economic woes in the coming few weeks. And once they do, Laporta already has a top target in mind.

Nico Williams: Laporta’s top target

According to MARCA, Nico Williams has emerged as Joan Laporta’s top priority once Barcelona sort out their economic woes.

Nico has been one of the revelations of the ongoing Euro 2024 and is widely regarded as one of the best wingers in La Liga.

But what makes him a particularly appealing option for Barcelona is his seemingly inseparable bond with Lamine Yamal.

The two appear to have become best friends during Spain’s Euro campaign and have made a significant impact on the pitch, notably helping La Roja emerge as one of the favourites to lift Euro 2024.

As a result, Nico has become a favourite among Barcelona fans, many of whom want him to partner Yamal in the final third for Barcelona next season.

However, acquiring the services of Nico will be a difficult proposition for Barcelona this summer. For one, the forward is likely to cost a fortune given his rapid growth in recent times.

But more importantly, the player himself has played down rumours of an exit, suggesting that he may continue at Athletic Club for another season.

However, these are still early days and it will be interesting to see how things transpire in the coming weeks.
