FC Barcelona are already looking to the future after securing the La Liga title with a 2-0 victory over Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium in a decisive Catalan derby on Thursday night.
It has been a special season for the Blaugrana, considering that they went without any trophy last season to lifting three this term under new manager Hansi Flick.
Since taking over the reins last year, the German tactician has breathed a new life into the Barça team and has taken them back to the top in Spain, with Europe next in sight.
Following the celebrations of the club’s 28th La Liga title, president Joan Laporta gave an interview on Friday to RAC1 (h/t Mundo Deportivo) where he confirmed that Hansi Flick has renewed his contract with Barcelona until 2027.
“We are very happy with the work Hansi is doing. He has been able to redirect the situation and recover the team’s competitive spirit. We have already talked about it, Deco will finish it and shortly we will make his renewal official,” said Laporta.
The Barcelona president then sang praises of the German tactician and the work he had done in his debut season, saying:
“I attribute a very high percentage of the team’s success to him. He has rigour, discipline, mental strength, special sensitivity… he has made everyone feel important.”

Continuing, Laporta added: “He is one of the keys to the success of the season, he is happy at the club, he is content, he enjoys himself, he enjoys himself….
“He is very excited about the project and has told us that he is living through one of the most beautiful stages of his career.”
Flick’s agent, Pini Zahavi, Barcelona director Deco, and Laporta had already laid the groundwork for the manager’s continuation a few weeks ago. While a few final details remained, the overall agreement was clear.
Following last Sunday’s Clasico, which ended in another Barcelona win, a final meeting took place between all parties to complete the agreement.
Flick, who was originally contracted until June 2026, will now remain with the club until June 2027.
