Barcelona president candidate claims talks with Jurgen Klopp | OneFootball

Jordi Farre, Barcelona president candidate, said in a recent interview with Sport that he held talks with the Liverpool manager about coming to Barcelona.

The presidential election will happen in Spring 2021 for Barcelona. Their current president is Josep Bartomeu. He has come under scrutiny after losing out on the Champions League last season.

Farre said: ”We had already started several conversations with Jürgen Klopp, because it seems to us that Barça needs such a coach.”

Farre continued: ”Things have been done very badly. Nobody has been able to see that a generational change in the squad was needed. On the contrary, players have been renewed without a logical sporting criterion. What should have been done little by little must now be done suddenly and in a more traumatic way.”

Jurgen Klopp has recently signed a new deal to stay with Liverpool, which currently has four years left.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

This is an unlikely move for Klopp. In the short-term, the German has everything he needs at Anfield.

Klopp possesses a side that has won the continental treble and the Premier League title within the past 14 months.

In terms of the future, Klopp has stated that he plans to take a year off football once his contract expires in 2024.

Also, Barcelona have a recent history of appointing former players as their coaches. For example, Frank Rijkaard, Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique, and now Ronald Koeman.

Because of the aforementioned reasons, we don’t see Klopp managing Barcelona within his career.
