Barcelona president Joan Laporta has called for Sunday’s Clásico to be replayed due to a controversial VAR decision.

The fallen Spanish champions saw a potential goal by Lamine Yamal disallowed as they slipped to a 3-2 defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Due to LaLiga’s lack of goal-line technology, a VAR review determined that Andriy Lunin had palmed the ball out despite some replays suggesting otherwise.

In response to that flashpoint, Blaugrana supremo Laporta has outlined evidence that he believes would merit the league re-running the fixture.

“If, after analysing these documents, the club finds that there was an error in estimating the shot – which we believe it is – we will initiate all appropriate measures to reverse the situation without excluding the necessary judicial proceedings,” said Laporta.

“If it is confirmed that it was a legal goal – as we believe it is – we will go further and ask for a replay, as happened in a European match due to a VAR error.”

Barcelona now sit 11 points off Madrid in the title race ahead of next Monday’s home encounter with Valencia.
