Barcelona have their sights on signing a new left-winger in the summer transfer window, along with a goalkeeper.

As has already been reported by multiple sources, Luis Diaz of Liverpool is seen as the top target but a move might not be straightforward due to his asking price.

Barça, therefore, are keeping tabs on alternatives, one of whom happens to be Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford, who has finished the season on loan at Aston Villa.

The England forward is now expected to be one of the most sought-after players in the upcoming transfer window.

Manchester United want €48 million for Rashford

According to SPORT, Rashford’s top desire is to play for Barcelona after having missed out on the move in January. However, the deal is currently financially out of reach.

Manchester United have set a €48 million asking price – a figure that could be manageable on its own but becomes difficult when combined with the attacker’s high salary.

The Red Devils have already informed the player’s entourage that he is not part of their future plans, following a breakdown in relations with manager Ruben Amorim.

The €48 million valuation is the same as what was previously included in Aston Villa’s purchase option, but Unai Emery’s side has since ruled out the deal due to the player’s high wages.

Barcelona prefer loan move with buy option

Manchester United are now aiming to complete a permanent transfer in order to end the relationship and offload his substantial contract, which runs until 2028.

However, Barcelona prefer a loan move with an option to purchase, which could pose an issue in the deal going through.

Rashford, for his part, is willing to make a financial sacrifice to secure a move – but only if it is to Barça, a position he has already communicated to the club.

The Blaugrana are aware of Rashford’s preference, but also know United are under pressure given their strained situation with the player.

This leads the Catalan club to believe the English side should be open to either reducing the asking price or agreeing to a favourable loan deal.
