Pablo Torre is one of the very Barcelona players this season who has struggled to get going under the leadership of Hansi Flick.

Formerly of Racing Club, Torre has largely played a bit part role in Barcelona’s campaign, often serving as a backup for first-choice or even second-choice first-team options.

As a result, Torre has featured in just over 400 minutes of action so far, falling behind the likes of Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Marc Casado in the pecking order.

This has led to question marks over Torre’s future, especially with his contract in Catalonia expiring in 2026.

Torre wants to stay at Barcelona

According to Mundo Deportivo, Pablo Torre is keen on staying at Barcelona and does not want to leave in the coming summer.

It appears the midfielder wants to fulfil the duration of his contract, which expires in 2026. Barcelona, however, are not on board with this idea.

The club do not want any player to start next season with just a year left on his contract.

Keeping that in mind, the Catalans are likely to offer Torre a new deal, which will increase the duration of his stay at Camp Nou.

This will enable Barcelona to have more control over the player’s future, especially if the player fail to attract any suitors.

Although extending the contract of a fringe player is always an economic risk, Torre’s salary ranks among the lowest in the first team. Barcelona, therefore, are willing to take that risk.

One thing is for sure – Torre is in the list of expendable players for Barcelona heading into the summer transfer window.

But with the player not too keen on leaving, it will be interesting to see how the newly-crowned Spanish champions approach the matter.
