Barcelona could soon enjoy a minor financial boost, as one of their former players, Estanis Pedrola, might be on the move this January, according to a report from SPORT.

The 21-year-old forward, who currently plays for Sampdoria in Serie B, has faced a tough spell in Italy, with signs pointing to a potential departure during the winter transfer window.

Pedrola’s struggles stem from a hamstring injury relapse he suffered in May. After undergoing surgery, he returned to action at the end of October but has failed to make the impact he hoped for.

His game time has been limited, starting only two of Sampdoria’s last 11 matches, with two more as a substitute. In total, he has featured in eight league matches this season without contributing a goal or an assist.

Sampdoria set for a shake-up

It is said that the Sampdoria management appears set to shake up their squad in January, with Pedrola among the players likely to depart, and This situation could work in Barcelona’s favour.

When Pedrola initially left for Sampdoria, the Catalan club secured €3 million from the deal and retained 50% of any future sale. If the Italian side sells him this winter, Barça stands to earn a portion of the transfer fee.

Pedrola joined Sampdoria in 2023, initially on loan before being permanently signed by the Italian side. Although Barcelona have a €7 million buyback clause for the forward, it can only be activated in 2025.

Barcelona still have control

For now, Barça will hope that any deal involving Pedrola brings some immediate financial benefit.

Currently valued at €1.8 million, Pedrola showed great promise during his time in Barcelona’s youth system.

However, Injuries have hindered his progress, but with the right conditions and consistent playing time, he has the potential to reach the levels many once anticipated.

For Barcelona, his next move could bring some much-needed financial relief while also providing hope for his career resurgence.
