Dani Olmo has joined the chorus of admiration for Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal, who continues to make headlines both on and off the pitch.

Speaking about the 17-year-old, Olmo painted a picture of a player who is not only immensely talented but also remarkably grounded.

“Lamine is an ordinary boy. He has a personality. He doesn’t need anyone to guide him, because he is already balanced and realistic,” said Olmo, as quoted by Jijantes.

A season to remember

Yamal’s incredible impact has gone well beyond what anyone expected from a player of his age.

In 55 appearances this season, the young winger has scored 18 goals and assisted 25, contributing directly to 43 goals in all competitions. These are staggering numbers for a teenager, let alone in a side like Barcelona, where expectations are always high.

He has shown up on the biggest stages, consistently making the difference when it matters most. Whether it was a crucial Champions League tie, a title-deciding league clash, or a high-pressure Copa del Rey night, Yamal was Barcelona’s go-to spark.

For what it is worth, his efforts have not gone unnoticed, as UEFA included him in the 2024/25 Champions League Team of the Season.

Numbers of the new contract

Such brilliance was always going to be rewarded, and Barcelona have moved swiftly to secure his long-term future.

As part of his new contract running until 2031, Yamal now earns figures that place him among the top earners at the club.

The structure of the deal reflects both his current value and potential, with €10 million net fixed salary, €25 million signing bonus, spread over six years and performance-based bonuses that could take his annual income up to €20 million net

But it is not just the money or stats that are drawing praise. As Olmo points out, Yamal’s mindset and work ethic are equally impressive:

“He knows that by working hard and with the help of the team, he can and will achieve great things. He’s eager to keep improving,” added the midfielder.
