Pablo Torre is one of many Barcelona players facing an uncertain summer, as the club look to trim the squad heading into the new season.
Once considered the next Pedri, Torre has failed to live up to expectations at Barcelona, falling behind others in the pecking order.
The youngster’s situation is not likely to improve anytime soon, with Barcelona more than willing to get rid of him this summer.
Recent reports even indicate that Barça are open to terminating the contract of the former Racing Club prodigy, should they struggle to find a suitor for the player.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are planning to renew Pablo Torre’s contract, despite the likelihood of him not playing a role in the first team next season.
It appears the club want to retain control of the 22-year-old’s future. The plan is to extend his contract, which currently runs until 2026, and then either loan him out with a purchase option or sell him with a buy-back clause included.

This change of stance reflects the club’s continued belief in his potential. Hansi Flick is reportedly impressed with Torre’s technical quality, tactical intelligence, and attitude in training.
Yet, with Gavi, Pedri, Fermin Lopez, and Dani Olmo all competing in similar roles, Torre is expected to be sent elsewhere to gain valuable minutes.
It must be noted that Torre has never actually disappointed whenever he was given an opportunity. But constantly competing with the big Barcelona heavyweights has been difficult for the player.
Torre appears to have no shortage of suitors either, with the player being courted by several La Liga clubs heading into the summer transfer window.
