Ferran Jutgla has been a revelation for the Barcelona B team this season. Signed on a free transfer from Espanyol, the 23-year-old forward has been on a roll in the First RFEF division, plundering 18 goals and five assists in 31 games.

Having been in red-hot form, the youngster got a look-in at the senior level towards the end of the last year when Barcelona had suffered a spate of injuries. Jutgla took his chance and scored two goals in nine senior appearances.

The 23-year-old has been leading the charge for the B team’s promotion, chances of which are starting to look bleak now. So, after the season, there is a good chance that Jutgla will be promoted to the first team, but there are already a lot of options at Xavi’s disposal in attack.

So, Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Barcelona are planning to renew Jutgla’s contract and loan him out to either a La Liga club or a team in the second division so that his development continues and does not get hampered due to a lack of game-time.

Jutgla’s current contract expires in 2022 but the club have an option to extend it by another year, which they plan to do. On top of that the Blaugrana hand him a longer deal, before loaning him out to help him gather valuable experience.

Barça already have Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembele, Ferran Torres, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay in attack. With plans to sign Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha in place, there will be little room for Jutgla to stand a chance of playing regularly at Camp Nou.

So, a loan move might be the best option for all parties involved as Jutgla has shown great potential and selling him outright could prove to be a mistake. As things stand, the 23-year-old could be set for a loan switch to a La Liga or a La Liga 2 club.
