As has been reported plenty of times already, there will be no major squad changes at FC Barcelona in the January market.
Both Deco and coach Hansi Flick have made it clear that it is crucial to retain all current assets, given the Blaugrana’s inability to sign or register new players due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.
However, come summer, Barcelona have some major plans with regard to the departure of certain players from the current squad.
Indeed, according to SPORT, Barça sporting director, Deco, has already been told that in the upcoming summer, the club will need to execute significant strategic player sales.
The Blaugrana have budgeted a minimum of €80 million in player departures, though this figure could rise.
Barcelona, both out of necessity and sporting strategy, have made it clear that not all of the current squad will remain, and that a new revolution, particularly in certain positions, is needed.
There is a complete overabundance of central defenders, and changes will also be made in midfield. These two areas are certain to see departures, and in some cases, the club have already started listening to offers for specific players.

Both Deco and Flick have carefully analysed the squad, identifying players who are surplus to requirements and could bring in income for the club.
It is clear that there may be one or two departures in the central defence, with Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen potentially being sold.
The former could receive offers from the Premier League, while Christensen, who has yet to play due to injury, is under contract until 2026 and still has significant market value.
In midfield, Pablo Torre, who has disappeared from the first-team picture, is one player likely to be moved on, while Frenkie de Jong, who has a very high salary, also stares at an uncertain future.
Both players know they are not first-choice options and do not fully fit into the coach’s plans, meaning the club would be open to a permanent departure.
In attack, Ansu Fati will not be part of Barcelona’s future plans, and the club are even willing to offer him a release from his contract, in order to save on wages.
