Barcelona have parted ways with their sporting director, Pep Segura, midway through the summer transfer window.
Former defender Eric Abidal is set to take his place as the Blaugrana look to shake things up behind the scenes at Camp Nou.
There is rumoured discord at the club right now following their dire financial results from earlier this summer which saw them generate a profit of just €4m from €990m in revenue.
Added to that their astronomical wage budget – the biggest in world football – and president Josep Bartomeu has looked to come down hard on Segura.
Abidal will now step into his position with Patrick Kluivert leading La Masia.
Former goalkeeper Victor Valdes has also been confirmed as joining the club’s board.
It’s strange timing for such a decision, considering that there is still a month left of the transfer window, and a supposed deal with Neymar to negotiate – something Segura was heavily involved in.
