Barcelona are in the market for a new pivot midfielder this summer and have identified the likes of Amadou Onana, Joshua Kimmich, and Mikel Merino as some of the options to reinforce the position.

The Blaugrana, though, are not out of financial difficulties and are still not in a position to spend money on reinforcements.

As such, the free-agent pool could again be an option for the Catalan heavyweights, having previously secured the signings of players like Andreas Christensen, Eric Garcia, Franck Kessie, and Ilkay Gundogan on Bosman deals.

Barcelona offered Adrien Rabiot

Now, Gerard Romero reports that Barcelona have been offered the chance to sign French midfielder Adrien Rabiot for free this summer.

Rabiot is now a free agent after his contract with Juventus expired on June 30. The 29-year-old French international has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.

But as per Romero, the midfielder’s mother, who also happens to be his representative, has offered Barça an opportunity to sign the former PSG ace for free in the current transfer window.

Rabiot is a player that the Blaugrana have been linked quite a bit in the past and there had been some suggestions that the ex-Juventus ace could be an option this year as well, as a cost-effective option.

Now, Barça have been offered the midfielder’s services on a Bosman deal, although it is suggested that the player seeks a salary of €8 million per year.

Given the Catalan heavyweights’ financial situation and lack of salary space, whether they are in a position to meet those wage demands remains the big question.
