In a recent report, Marca claimed that Barcelona have offered Pau Cubarsi a new contract. It is believed that the Catalan club are looking to offer the Spanish youngster a new and improved deal to keep hold of him at the Nou Camp for the long run.
Cubarsi has enjoyed a decent rise at the Spanish club after he put in a series of solid performances at the centre of their backline. The 17-year-old has made 13 senior appearances for the Catalan club this season, picking one assist across all fronts. However, he is still waiting to score his first senior goal for Barca.
The talented teenager has been a good performer inside his half as he is averaging 1.8 tackles, 0.8 interceptions and 3.6 clearances per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been tidy when distributing possession from the back after completing 91.4% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Catalan club will run out in the summer of 2026. Therefore, it makes sense for Barca to tie Cubarsi down to a new, long-term deal.

Cubarsi is a tough-tackling defender who can time his challenges well from the wide areas. He doesn’t hesitate the clear the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and can even play his way out from the back. The Spanish sensation mainly functions as a central defender but can also fill in as a right-back if asked to do so by his manager.
We can expect Cubarsi to grow into a top talent at the Nou Camp if Barcelona are willing to put their faith in his ability in the long run. At 17, the Spaniard has a bright future ahead of him, so it makes sense for the Catalan club to try and tie him down to a fresh, long-term contract.
Cubarsi is good enough to help Barca compete for some major honours over the next decade. Thus, it will be a good move for both the player and the Catalan club to extend their time together in search of more success in the future.
