As Barcelona start preparations for the summer transfer window, there have been a lot of speculations about the Catalan giants needing to sell some of their top stars in order to balance the books and free up space for new incomings.

Frenkie de Jong’s name has been constantly linked with an exit as a result. Another superstar whose name has been dragged into talks of a potential sale in the summer is goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

The German international is in his eighth full season at Camp Nou. While he has been a top performer for most of this period, errors had started to creep up in his game in the current campaign, leading to criticism from a large section of supporters.

It had led to talks of Barcelona considering selling the 30-year-old in the summer transfer window. These rumours continue to do the round even though manager Xavi Hernandez is keen on retaining the services of ter Stegen and believes he is one of the best in the world.

Now, the reliable Gerard Romero has provided a fresh update on Barcelona’s stance on the future of Marc-Andre ter Stegen heading into the summer transfer window.

According to the journalist, Barcelona, at this point, are not entertaining the prospect of selling ter Stegen despite the club’s financial situation and there being some dissatisfaction among the fans over his performances.

As things stand, the former Borussia Monchengladbach star has the backing of the manager and it seems like the Catalans are also not contemplating the possibility of selling him, meaning his future at Camp Nou seems secure for the time being.

There will be at least one goalkeeper departing Barça in the summer, though, as second-choice shot-stopper Neto is keen on leaving and is attracting interest from his homeland, Brazil.
