Roony Bardghji has impressed since his arrival at Barcelona this summer, making a solid impression during the pre-season. However, the 19-year-old winger is yet to make his official debut for the club as they have so far been unable to register him.

The situation is understood to be quite complicated, and as such, if Barcelona fail to generate sufficient financial fair play, the Swedish winger may not be registered with the first team.

Headed back to Copenhagen?

In that case, Barça would need to look for alternatives. Even with a reserve-team licence, Bardghji would still count towards the salary cap, so one option being considered is a loan, reports SPORT.

In this scenario, FC Copenhagen, his former club, could be the best placed due to their close ties with the player.

Having made his debut for the Danish outfit as a 16-year-old, Bardghji went on to feature over 80 times for them, scoring 15 goals – the most famous one coming in a European fixture against Manchester United.

Barça brought him from Copenhagen for a fee of around €2 million plus add-ons and have high hopes for him. The youngster has shown flashes of his quality in pre-season as well as in the recent friendly he played for the Catalans’ reserve team.

However, with his first-team registration becoming complicated, the option of a return to Copenhagen on loan could be explored.

Champions League could be key

Copenhagen remain the strongest club in Denmark and have already appeared in the Champions League 15 times.

Their sixteenth participation could be secured next week after a 1-1 draw away to Basel in the final qualifying round. The return leg at the Parken Stadium promises to be intense.

Progression to the Champions League group stage could play a decisive role in Bardghji’s future, particularly as his younger brother Rayan remains in Denmark despite Barcelona’s interest.

Even so, Bardghji has always made clear his preference for Barcelona. He has already expressed his hope to spend his entire career with the club. However, registration issues could force him to take a brief detour and return to his former team temporarily.
