Barcelona must close six transfer operations within a week

Just one week remains for the winter transfer window to close, and there is still a lot of unfinished business in FC Barcelona’s offices.

The current window has been a busy one for the Catalans. Phillipe Coutinho’s departure, Samuel Umtiti’s restructured contract, and the arrival of Ferran Torres are the most notable movements from Barcelona’s point of view.

According to reports from SPORT, however, the club are far from done. Mateu Alemany, the Catalan club’s sporting director, still has six operations to complete in the final week.

Four departures are planned from the club’s side to help lower the wage bill and help players get minutes under their belt. The players speculated to be on their way out are Oscar Mingueza, Ousmane Dembele, Inaki Pena, and Sergino Dest.

Mingueza was said to have caught Valencia’s attention earlier this week but has now been removed from Los Murcielagos’ priority list. Nevertheless, Celta, Hertha Berlin, and Mallorca are said to be interested in his signature.

Dembele, on the other hand, has been publicly told to leave the club at the earliest after he refused to sign an extension. A loan move is being eyed, but will not be easy to negotiate.

Sergino Dest has not made the most of his opportunities under Xavi and suddenly finds himself on the brink of leaving. Chelsea and Bayern Munich are amongst the sides interested in his signature. However, it remains to be seen if Barcelona are prepared to let go of such a young talent to a direct rival.

The fourth on the list, Inaki Pena, has received a concrete offer from Galatasaray. The youngster has been deprived of minutes since entering the first team dynamics. Now, his departure only seems to be a matter of time.

In addition, Alemany eyes two arrivals at Camp Nou. Alvaro Morata has been a target for the Blaugranas over the past months, and efforts are still being made to bring fruit to it.

At left-back, Nicolas Tagliafico is eyed as a signing on loan to provide Jordi Alba with competition – despite the fact that Ajax coach Erik ten Hag is blocking his move to the Catalan capital.
